Manufacturing Techniques for bio electronic devices

The ion pumps and surface switches can with different manufacturing techniques be made in the form factor desired. The ion pump can be manufactured in a flat design using traditional photolithography processes to achieve small dimensions (Today, the OBOETTE is made by melting a double lumen plastic tube around the electrodes of the ion pump in order to build a pipette design of the ion pump. The materials used in the surface switches can be deposited using a coating technique that enables large area coating. Patterns are then created using regular photolithographic techniques. In order to form a well for the cell culture medium a “petri dish” can be formed around the surface switches using injection moulding.


The Electronic Box
